Dinner and a Movie
The inspiration behind this piece was the movie "Slumdog Millionaire". This movie is about the struggles between the rich and the poor, the far disparities between social classes and how one boy can combine both of those classes overnight. When I was making ideas for this project, I immediately thought of the colors that go hand in hand with both the rich and the poor. Brown, earthy neutrals that represent both dirt and gold. I wanted the dinner area to be a representation of what the main character would be feeling after he wins all of his money. He seems as though he was unbothered by his winnings, continuing to stay humble throughout the entirety of the movie. The bright ramen packet is a representation of the poor with scattered paper towels and a regular spoon. Nothing fancy, the meal is even on a paper plate.
